Amazing place 😸 I never knew what it is to be happy until this year. The owners got me out of this scary psych ward in NYC. I yelled, threw soda La'croix cans in the kitchen and blah blah blah… So grateful to everyone here and this amazing experience. Love you all ❤️🌹

New spirit recovery helped me when I was detoxing hard for about a week. The staff were kind to me the whole time. After that, when I was thinking about leaving early, they helped me slow down and choose recovery instead. They made me feel better about myself and kept showing up, encouraging me to do what was best for me. By the time discharge came, I honestly loved New Spirit Recovery and I was grateful I stayed. They also helped me set up appointments for my leg issues, and I’m doing better now because they took the time to help me.

A close friend of mine recently finished their stay at New Spirit Recovery, and seeing their transformation has been incredible. Before coming here, they were struggling in ways that were hard to watch, but after completing the program, they’re like a completely new person — clear-headed, hopeful, and genuinely excited about life again.

What really stood out was how much they talked about the people there. The staff and owner didn’t just “do their job” — they truly cared. They made my friend feel understood, supported, and safe every step of the way. The program itself gave them real tools to build a better future, not just get through treatment. Even the small things, like the meals and the daily structure, made a big difference in helping them heal and rebuild their confidence.

I can honestly say this place gave my friend their life back. New Spirit Recovery goes beyond just treatment — it’s a place where real healing happens. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to see their loved one get the chance to start over for goodI’m

What Does New Spirit Recovery and Elevate Wellness Center's Medical Detox Program in Los Angeles, CA Include?

Medical Detox Track - Ages 18+

Medical detox at New Spirit Recovery serves adults 18 and over requiring medically supervised withdrawal management following active substance use, polysubstance dependence, or high-risk withdrawal scenarios that require continuous medical oversight.

Programming focus during the acute phase is post-acute stabilization. The medical team manages withdrawal complications, comfort medication titration, and vital sign monitoring through evidence-based protocols.

Clinical presentations admitted include benzodiazepine withdrawal requiring seizure prevention protocols, alcohol withdrawal with delirium tremens risk, opioid withdrawal with severe physical symptoms, methamphetamine withdrawal with psychiatric complications, fentanyl dependence requiring extended monitoring, and co-occurring mental health conditions requiring dual diagnosis intervention.

What to Expect from Medical Monitored Detox

Medical detox includes 24-hour medical supervision, continuous nursing coverage, physician oversight, medication management, group therapy participation when medically appropriate, and individual therapy sessions when withdrawal symptoms permit.

The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) curriculum introduces emotional regulation concepts during stable periods and teaches distress tolerance techniques for managing withdrawal discomfort and anxiety.

Licensed medical staff supervise continuously. Continuous supervision supports immediate crisis intervention and specialized withdrawal management through 24-hour nursing coverage.

What Does a Day in Morning Medical Detox Look Like?

Medical assessment and vital sign monitoring run continuously. Round-the-clock nursing staff conduct vital sign assessments, administer medications, and evaluate withdrawal symptoms using standardized protocols.

Physician consultation and medical review occur at least weekly. Additional visits are scheduled based on withdrawal complexity.

Medication management and comfort care follow established withdrawal medication protocols.

Group therapy participation begins when medical stability permits.

Individual therapy sessions are adapted to current medical status.

What Happens Outside of Medical Detox Hours?

Off-programming time during medical detox supports rest and physiological recovery. Activities include resting and allowing the body to heal, supervised communication with family members about progress, basic self-care as symptoms permit, hydration and nutrition per medical recommendations, and immediate contact with nursing staff if withdrawal symptoms worsen.

Who Is Medical Detox Appropriate For?

Medical detox is indicated for adults requiring medical supervision during acute withdrawal from alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, heroin, fentanyl, or methamphetamine, where withdrawal can produce life-threatening complications without professional intervention.

Medically Supervised Detoxification in Los Angeles

Our physician-led team uses 24-hr nursing and detox protocols, over 7-10 days and up to 21 by medical necessity, with seamless step-down to inpatient rehab and dual diagnosis care.

Our medical alcohol detox program manages alcohol withdrawal with continuous medical monitoring and symptom-based medication to reduce the risk of complications such as seizures and delirium tremens. Because alcohol withdrawal can be medically dangerous, the SAMHSA National Helpline and licensed programs recommend medically supervised detox. Care follows ASAM-aligned protocols and connects to medication assisted detox for ongoing alcohol use disorder support.

Why Choose New Spirit Recovery for Drug and Alcohol Detox in Los Angeles?

The clinical and operational features of medical detox at New Spirit Recovery and Elevate Wellness Center are listed below. Each feature is grounded in California DHCS licensure, ASAM-aligned withdrawal management protocols, and the canonical staffing and protocol values used across the New Spirit Recovery continuum.

Medical detox at New Spirit Recovery delivers continuous nursing coverage and physician availability for clinical intervention during withdrawal complications, including seizures, cardiac events, and delirium tremens. Licensed medical staff monitor vital signs, medication response, and symptom progression through evidence-based protocols. The medical structure supports client safety throughout the detoxification course.

Evidence-based withdrawal medications, including anti-seizure protocols, comfort medications, and psychiatric stabilizers, reduce withdrawal symptoms and address life-threatening complications. The Nurse Practitioner directs medication selection, timing, and dosage adjustments based on individual withdrawal patterns and medical history. Medication-Assisted Treatment integrates with medical detox when clinically indicated.

The Medical Director provides addiction-specialty oversight, including complex withdrawal management, medication-assisted treatment planning, and coordination with co-occurring medical conditions during detoxification. Protocols follow American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) guidelines.

Medical detox operates within an integrated continuum that supports step-down to PHP or IOP without provider changes or treatment gaps. The same clinical team coordinates the transition between medical detox completion and step-down programming initiation.

Co-occurring mental health conditions receive integrated medical treatment through psychiatric medication management and dual diagnosis protocols during the medical detox phase. The medical team addresses major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric conditions requiring stabilization alongside withdrawal management.

Medical detox is delivered in a small residential facility with limited bed capacity. The setting supports continuous staff-to-client contact during withdrawal periods. Holistic practices are integrated alongside medical stabilization where clinically appropriate.

All meals are provided by an in-house chef. Nutrition support services accommodate withdrawal-related nausea, appetite changes, and dietary restrictions. Nutritional support addresses dehydration and malnutrition risks during the medical detox phase.

The admissions team coordinates insurance authorization for medical detox services. Authorization is initiated before admission. Medical necessity documentation supports insurance review and length-of-stay determination based on clinical course rather than fixed timelines.

Twenty-four-hour medical staff availability supports immediate response to withdrawal complications, psychiatric emergencies, and medical events requiring emergency intervention or hospital transfer coordination. Licensed nurses maintain crisis intervention and emergency protocol training specific to withdrawal management.

Withdrawal management protocols at New Spirit Recovery align with American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) guidelines for safe, evidence-based detoxification across substance categories. Medical staff training includes addiction-specialty education and withdrawal management certification.

Our Medical Detox Program Treatment Process

Assessment & Stabilization

Medication management includes comfort medications for withdrawal symptoms, anti-seizure protocols for high-risk withdrawals, psychiatric medications for co-occurring conditions, and preparation of any addiction medications continuing into outpatient care.

Therapeutic programming begins when medical stability permits group participation, individual therapy engagement, and recovery education without compromising medical safety.

Licensed clinicians adapt therapeutic content to current medical status and cognitive functioning during withdrawal.

Individual therapy during medical detox focuses on immediate safety planning, treatment engagement, and discharge preparation rather than intensive trauma work, which is deferred until cognitive clarity is restored.

Transition Planning & Step-Down Coordination

Aftercare planning from medical detox establishes continuation care through PHP or IOP step-down within the New Spirit Recovery continuum, with continuity of clinical team across levels of care.

External referrals are coordinated when clients require different geographic locations or specialized services outside the integrated continuum.
