New spirit recovery helped me when I was detoxing hard for about a week. The staff were kind to me the whole time. After that, when I was thinking about leaving early, they helped me slow down and choose recovery instead. They made me feel better about myself and kept showing up, encouraging me to do what was best for me. By the time discharge came, I honestly loved New Spirit Recovery and I was grateful I stayed. They also helped me set up appointments for my leg issues, and I’m doing better now because they took the time to help me.

A close friend of mine recently finished their stay at New Spirit Recovery, and seeing their transformation has been incredible. Before coming here, they were struggling in ways that were hard to watch, but after completing the program, they’re like a completely new person — clear-headed, hopeful, and genuinely excited about life again.

What really stood out was how much they talked about the people there. The staff and owner didn’t just “do their job” — they truly cared. They made my friend feel understood, supported, and safe every step of the way. The program itself gave them real tools to build a better future, not just get through treatment. Even the small things, like the meals and the daily structure, made a big difference in helping them heal and rebuild their confidence.

I can honestly say this place gave my friend their life back. New Spirit Recovery goes beyond just treatment — it’s a place where real healing happens. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to see their loved one get the chance to start over for goodI’m

What Does New Spirit Recovery and Elevate Wellness Center's Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program in Los Angeles, CA Include?

Dual Diagnosis Track - Ages 18+

Dual diagnosis treatment serves adults 18 and over requiring integrated mental-health and addiction care after medical detox, during active substance use, or when prior care at lower levels has not produced sustained stabilization.

Programming focus during the early phase is post-acute stabilization. The clinical team coordinates psychiatric medication management with addiction-specialty therapy in a single treatment plan.

Clinical presentations admitted include recent detox completion, co-occurring mental health conditions requiring daily monitoring, elevated relapse risk, chronic relapse patterns after outpatient attempts, polysubstance use, and medication management needs beyond outpatient capacity.

What to Expect from Dual Diagnosis

Dual diagnosis programming delivers 3 to 6 hours of daily clinical contact, 3 to 5 days per week. Programming includes morning check-in, process group therapy, psychoeducation, specialty therapeutic groups, and individual therapy or case management.

The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) curriculum rotates through eight-week cycles covering emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness.

Individual therapy occurs weekly with the assigned licensed clinician and addresses clinical content, trauma history, and individualized treatment-plan work.

What Does a Day in Morning Dual Diagnosis Look Like?

Clients arrive at the Los Angeles facility at 17856 Cathedral Pl, Encino, CA 91316. On-site parking is available.

Clinical staff conduct check-in to monitor attendance and assess current clinical content.

The clinical team reviews the daily schedule with the cohort. Brief individual check-ins support accountability and community connection.

Licensed clinicians facilitate process groups addressing current clinical content, interpersonal dynamics, and emotional processing from the prior 24 hours.

What Happens Outside of Dual Diagnosis Hours?

Off-programming time during dual diagnosis supports applied skill use. Clients practice CBT and DBT skills introduced in programming, attend mutual-aid meetings (AA, NA, SMART Recovery, or similar), complete therapeutic homework, maintain family and household routines, apply coping techniques to current triggers, and contact the on-call clinical line in the event of a clinical crisis.

Who Is Dual Diagnosis Appropriate For?

Dual diagnosis treatment is indicated for adults 18 and over requiring integrated mental-health and addiction care. Clinical indications include post-detox stabilization with co-occurring conditions, active substance use with co-occurring conditions where 24-hour residential supervision is not clinically indicated, insufficient stabilization at outpatient or IOP levels of care, and clinical complexity requiring coordinated psychiatric and addiction-specialty care through a single treatment plan.

Shared meals during programming hours support applied social-engagement skills without substance use and peer relationship development. An in-house chef accommodates dietary restrictions, allergies, and specialty meal requirements. Nutrition support services integrate with daily programming.

The DBT curriculum rotates through eight-week cycles covering emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. Licensed clinicians facilitate skills groups and support applied practice for craving management, interpersonal dynamics, and emotional regulation.

Licensed clinicians deliver 60-minute weekly individual therapy sessions. Sessions address treatment-plan goals, trauma history, and individualized clinical content. Session formats include in-office therapy, walk-and-talk, and creative therapeutic approaches matched to clinical content.

Modality selection is based on clinical presentation and includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-focused therapy (including referral for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing when clinically indicated), and somatic therapies. Medication-assisted treatment integrates when clinically indicated. Veteran-specialty therapists deliver targeted interventions for military trauma through Veterans Program.

Admissions occur Monday through Friday after clinical assessment and insurance authorization. Same-day admission is available when clinically appropriate. The admission cadence supports rapid access to treatment after the assessment is complete.

Comprehensive clinical evaluation during admission determines dual diagnosis appropriateness, co-occurring conditions, medication needs, and safety planning in a single assessment. Treatment planning begins on admission day. Integrated assessment supports continuity between assessment and programming start.
