New spirit recovery helped me when I was detoxing hard for about a week. The staff were kind to me the whole time. After that, when I was thinking about leaving early, they helped me slow down and choose recovery instead. They made me feel better about myself and kept showing up, encouraging me to do what was best for me. By the time discharge came, I honestly loved New Spirit Recovery and I was grateful I stayed. They also helped me set up appointments for my leg issues, and I’m doing better now because they took the time to help me.

A close friend of mine recently finished their stay at New Spirit Recovery, and seeing their transformation has been incredible. Before coming here, they were struggling in ways that were hard to watch, but after completing the program, they’re like a completely new person — clear-headed, hopeful, and genuinely excited about life again.

What really stood out was how much they talked about the people there. The staff and owner didn’t just “do their job” — they truly cared. They made my friend feel understood, supported, and safe every step of the way. The program itself gave them real tools to build a better future, not just get through treatment. Even the small things, like the meals and the daily structure, made a big difference in helping them heal and rebuild their confidence.

I can honestly say this place gave my friend their life back. New Spirit Recovery goes beyond just treatment — it’s a place where real healing happens. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to see their loved one get the chance to start over for goodI’m

What Does New Spirit Recovery's Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in Los Angeles, CA Include?

MAT Track - Ages 18+

MAT at New Spirit Recovery serves adults 18 and over after medical detox, during active substance use, or when prior care at lower levels has not produced sustained stabilization.

Programming focus during the early phase is post-acute stabilization. The on-site psychiatric provider establishes the medication regimen and the assigned licensed clinician integrates counseling alongside pharmacological treatment.

Clinical presentations admitted include recent detox completion, co-occurring mental health conditions requiring daily monitoring, elevated relapse risk, chronic relapse patterns after outpatient attempts, polysubstance use, and medication management needs beyond outpatient capacity.

MAT integrates FDA-approved medications with counseling. Length of stay is determined by clinical course; step-down to continued MAT or supervised taper is supported when clinical stabilization is sustained.

What to Expect from MAT

MAT visits include scheduled medication management appointments with the on-site psychiatric provider, individual counseling with the assigned licensed clinician, group therapy participation when clinically indicated, and psychiatric monitoring sessions.

The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) curriculum rotates through eight-week cycles covering emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness.

Individual therapy occurs weekly with the assigned licensed clinician and addresses clinical content, trauma history, and treatment-plan work. Session formats include in-office therapy, walk-and-talk, and creative therapeutic approaches.

What Does a Day in Morning MAT Look Like?

Pre-appointment preparation includes prescribed medication adherence, completion of therapeutic homework, and clinical content review for the upcoming session.

Arrival and check-in occur with clinical staff who assess current clinical state.

Medication management sessions with the on-site psychiatric provider review medication response and adjust the regimen based on clinical course.

Individual therapy sessions address current clinical content and treatment-plan work.

Group therapy participation supports applied skill use when multiple clients are scheduled.

Psychiatric consultation addresses complex clinical content when indicated.

Discharge from the visit includes session summary and next appointment scheduling.

What Happens Outside of MAT Hours?

Off-visit time supports applied skill use. Clients take prescribed medications on schedule, attend mutual-aid meetings (AA, NA, SMART Recovery, or similar), complete therapeutic homework, maintain household and employment routines, practice CBT and DBT skills introduced in counseling, and contact the on-call clinical line in the event of a clinical crisis or medication concern.

Who Is MAT Appropriate For?

MAT is indicated for adults 18 and over with opioid use disorder or alcohol use disorder who require FDA-approved medication treatment combined with addiction-specialty counseling. Outpatient MAT medications include buprenorphine (Suboxone), naltrexone (Vivitrol), and acamprosate.

Advantages of Working with New Spirit Recovery for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in Los Angeles, CA

The clinical and operational features of MAT at New Spirit Recovery and Elevate Wellness Center are listed below. Each feature is grounded in California DHCS licensure, FDA-approved medication protocols, and the canonical staffing and protocol values used across the New Spirit Recovery continuum.

MAT uses FDA-approved medications including buprenorphine (Suboxone), naltrexone (Vivitrol), and acamprosate. The medications are evidence-based for craving reduction and relapse prevention. Medications address the pharmacological component of substance use disorder; counseling addresses the cognitive and behavioral components.

Visits are scheduled to accommodate continued employment, household, and educational responsibilities during active treatment. Visit frequency adjusts from weekly to monthly based on clinical stabilization.

The on-site Nurse Practitioner conducts a comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluation at intake. The provider reviews medical history, current medications, and treatment needs. Medication initiation begins after intake when clinically indicated.

Dual diagnosis treatment integrates psychiatric medication management for major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and bipolar disorder alongside MAT for substance use disorder. Treatment is coordinated through a single coordinated treatment plan per the SAMHSA standard.

DBT teaches emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. CBT addresses cognitive patterns associated with substance use. Trauma-focused therapy addresses underlying trauma content when clinically indicated. MAT pairs counseling with the medication regimen.

Licensed clinicians deliver 60-minute weekly individual therapy sessions. Sessions address treatment-plan goals, trauma history, and individualized clinical content alongside the MAT medication regimen.

Family therapy sessions address household communication patterns, boundary setting, and recovery-supportive household structure. Monthly family education groups continue indefinitely after MAT completion.

Clinical assessment and admission scheduling typically complete within 24 to 48 hours when medical necessity is documented and insurance authorization is approved. Same-day admission is available when clinically appropriate.

Alumni services include weekly virtual support groups, monthly family education, quarterly social events, the alumni Facebook community, and resource coordination. Alumni programming continues indefinitely after MAT completion.

Insurance verification confirms MAT coverage before treatment begins. The admissions team coordinates with major private health insurance carriers to support continuity of coverage across the MAT course.
